Find out a little more about the band

Musical Director

Ken Vernon has just taken up the post of Musical Director. Ken has been involved with music most of his life and is very well qualified for the post. He also conducts Thurcroft Brass Band. Ken conducted Welbeck during the 1990's when the band gained a first prize in a cointest at Kirkby in Ashfield under his guidance.

(This page will be updated when more information is available including Kens picture).

Terry Brown lives in Mansfield and has been in brass bands since the age of 13 when he started with the then Carlton Silver Band under conductor Bernard Nolan. Terry has played for Blidworth Band and Shirebrook Band. He has guested with many of the local bands in the region as principal cornet. Terry has been with Welbeck since 1988.

Terry's highlight is playing with 25 other massed bands at Wollaton Park for the Nottingham Festival, culminating in the 1812 Overture complete with cannons, muskets and fireworks. Unfortunately due to smoke it was impossible to even see the person next to you for a time, let alone the conductor !
